I went to Drs today and he told me to self certificate myself off work for the week and I he gave me a questionnaire to fill in and I am seeing him again on Thursday morning. We spoke about my issues with work and he thinks that my hating my job is a huge factor. He said everything else in my life seems to be going ok. He even described it as like banging me head against the wall everyday and said if I was doing that then I should stop! It would be great to leave my job but there is obviously the financial implications, makes me think of "Bitter Sweet Symphony" by The Verve and the infamous line, "You're a slave to money then you die." The more I think about it though the worse I feel and being caught in limbo is no good. My friend left work a while ago and she had no job when she put her notice in, but she said that she felt such a sense of relief when she gave her notice in, she felt a huge weight had been lifted off her. Now I do have savings so in theory we could last about 6 months on those but I really wanted to use them to pay off debt earlier and also my mum said she would take less off me a month but again I really want to be debt free by 30 which is only 13 months away. But I really don't think I could last another 13 months there  I really want to try to stay until I start at college and hopefully doing less hours and also having some kind of plan may make it more bearable.

ANY ADVICE WOULD BE GREAT as I just don't know what to do anymore  I really feel like I am wasting my life being so miserable as even when I am not actually at work I sit at home worrying about it, stupid I know :o It also makes me mad at myself for being so stupid with money in the past and being in so much debt

    MAD RAMBLING OVER :rotfl:

I am about to go off and ebay now so I can stay occupied and not sit here stressing. I can also try to make my £13000 and pay off my debts :rotfl: See a little optimism will do me the world of good! I think I will need a miracle to make that much on ebay though.

I have added up my "free" money to try to spur me on with doing my daily clicks etc. and this is what I have at the moment

    ONE POLL £12.70
    OH ONE POLL £6.40
    QUIDCO £14.24
    TOP CASH BACK £2.71
    GREASY PALM £12.45
    TOTAL £48.50

    PIGSBACK 807
    OH PIGSBACK 200
    TOTAL 1007 points

I was actually surprised as I didn't think I had that much so I guess it is worth it as it definately all adds up.
    MINI GOALS:
    • College course fee - £450/£1056
    • Get my debt under £10000 by 31/12/08 - £500/£3501
    • List on ebay by 14/08/08 - 3/20
I do hope to get at least another 7 things on ebay today taking me half way to my goal so I better go and get busy.

If you got this far thank you for reading through my self indulgent clap trap!!

Hiya, sorry to hear you're feeling down again. Could you leave work and do some temp work until you find something better permanently? When are you due to start college? It's a difficult decision but I do think that your mental health is so much more important than having to be debt free by a certain debt... as long as you're keeping on top of things and not falling behind with payments. I also tend to think you'll tackle the debt better if you're feeling better about life in general.

Maybe sit down and do a list of pros and cons of leaving work and staying there?

I am not sure when I am actually due to start college as I am still waiting of a letter of confirmation from them. I can only assume it will be some time in September

I will do a lit of pros and cons of working at Morrisons:

    Pros
    • A regular wage (well £5.66 per hour  )
    • Staff discount card - 10%
    Cons
    • It makes me miserable
    • The pay is not great, barely above minimum wage
    • I do not like the people I work with most of them are lazy and take the p*ss
    • The customers can be SO SO rude and look down on you
    • You get no support from above
    • It bores me to tears
    • I just really don't want to be there anymore
I am sure peopl will think I am just whining but I really am unhappy there and I can't carry on like this so I need to do something. But I don't know what to do for the best

Don't worry, I'm sure enough of us have been in miserable jobs to know where you're coming from. I left a job with nothing to go to - quite a few years back now - quite simply because I couldn't take the stress and bad atmosphere any more. Did have then-OH's salary to fall back on though so it wasn't too bad financially.

How about a pros and cons of leaving the job to look at the other side of it? Could you stick it out till you start college and then look for something else that fits round college days?

I did mean to ebay today but I decided to look for a new job. I know I cannot stand to stay working where I am and it would definately be better if I had a new job before I quit. So fingers crossed.

I did upload some pictures so I can spend tomorrow listing stuff on ebay :A I must just stay focused and make sure I do actually list some stuff and not just spend the surfing the web and not accomplishing anything

    PROS:
    • I will feel happier
    • It may give me the determination to seriously look for a new job
    • More time to ebay
    CONS:
    • No regular wage
    • No staff discount
    • May not be able to pay £500 a month off debt
    • Won't be able to pay into my isa monthly
    • May not be able to achieve my debt free goal
I know it is the most sensible thing to stay at my current job until I get a new job but it just depends how much more I can take.

I will be looking online for more jobs and applying to suitable ones. Fingers crossed there are some good ones out there.

Hi, hope you're feeling a bit more positive. Yep it's always better to have a job, hopefully you can find something else soon before this one makes you any more unhappy.

I can't believe how much you have to eBay!!

Good luck with it all :)

Feeling a little more posititve thanks. Am back at Drs tomorrow so see what he thinks is best. But I know that I am the only person who can really decide what to do.

It was my excessive shopping habit that has given me boxes full of stuff that I don't need. I am not sure I even needed most of the stuff that I have bought :o I also get stuff from friends and family that they are throwing out and I think I can sell on ebay. I am very welcoming to free stuff much to my OH's annoyance!

Good news on the job front I have an interview at Odeon cinema on Sunday so fingers crossed. I only need part time hours to fit in around college and I am an avid film fan so this job would be ideal so let's hope I make the right impression. I have also been invited to a recruitment day at sports world on Monday after I registered my details with them.

I went out with my mum yesterday so didn't get any ebaying done so today I will have to make up for it.

I also went to Drs yesterday and he signed me off again for 1 week and has also upped my medication so hopfully I will feel happier soon. Plus, I have no excuse not to ebay now so I will set myself a weekly target and I WILL reach it, if not exceed it.

That's great news on the interview - good luck! Had a friend who worked for the Odeon when we were at Uni and she loved it, especially getting to see films for free ;)

Let us know how it goes!
