barclaycard rate query

i have a standard barclaycard with an apr of 13.9% and a balance of £3k outstanding.

today i rec'd a letter from them saying that my rate will be going up to 14.9% p/a and the bt fee will go from 2% to 2.5%. i am obviously not pleased with this. so, i am wondering if anyone else has rec'd a similar letter, and whether anyone thinks it may be worth calling barclaycard to see what they can do for me, and if so who to speak to and what to say. bearing in mind that i don`t want to close the acc, because it has a high credit limit (for emergencies!!!!)
Lead me not into temptation, I can find the way myself.

wins - peroni bottle opener, peroni bowl, peroni coastersx2 and a vodkat cocktail kit,
would love to win something 'proper'!!

Have you considered applying for another 0% card and transferring the balance?

Having a high limit for "emergencies" is OK but your £3K balance must be costing you over £30 a month in interest, and that's nearly £400 a year!
