Emergency credit card for traveling?!

Hey!
Im going to Australia traveling for a year so I need to get a credit card for emergencys when im out there just incase, but I've never had one before and all the %'s for this and that confuse me!!! Does anyone know any good kinds or recommendations of a certain type that would be good for this?

hi, go to the nationwide website and look up their classic credit card

nationwide are excellent as they don't have a foreign currency surcharge (most charge 2-3% of the spending).

however, remember you need to pay at least the minimum payment each month so you will need to make suitable arrangments to pay.

get a card asap and gain experience of using it.

The Post Office don't charge a commission for transactions overseas either so we've just opened one of their accounts. It's all totally done online (or you can phone) and got the card within a week, we received an initial interest free period (3 months I think) but you'd need to check current offers but website really helpful (and in plain english too).
