I can't believe that you don't have a friend or neighbour that does not have an extension lead, or maybe you are just being difficult for the sake of it?

Nah, we don't get difficult people on here...

Call them, be polite, and ask if it is possible to arrange collection more quickly. Sorted.

I'm sorry I didn't come across very well in my earlier posts did I. I got a bit anxious about the situation. I'm not being difficult for the sake of it, I don't know any of the neighbours but I have partially solved the problem. My care assistant managed to move a few things around in the garage so the boxes aren't in the way too much now.

I did call IKEA and I was polite to them. I calmly explained the problem I had with storing the boxes and the lady on the phone spoke to her supervisor but there was nothing they could do to speed up collection. I asked to speak to the supervisor but I was told he was not available to take calls and they would arrange for a call back but it could take up to 48 hours and I was told he wouldn't be able to do anything else for me anyway. The only thing I can do is put my complaint in writing to IKEA which I plan to do tomorrow.

This whole thing has not brought out the best side of me. It's been 3 days since the wrong item was delivered. I still don't have a date for collection of the wrong item or delivery of the correct item even though they promised to send me an email on Thursday afternoon. I bought the new furniture so I could get my house straight so I could keep things tidy and be less stressed and but it's turned into the exact opposite. I'm stressed, tired and frustrated and it's infuriating when I phone the call centre only to be told that it takes 72 hours for a request to go through the computer system and 7-10 days to arrange a collection!

I have learned from my mistake, if I want something from IKEA I will never order from their website again!

Thanks for your replies. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be "difficult", I'm just not a happy bunny.

4 days after telling IKEA about their mistake I finally have a date for collection of the wrong item and delivery of the right one! Monday 7th July!

I'm still not happy with the way I've been messed around but I'm glad I have a date now so I can get things organised. It's 13 days after I was originally supposed to get it but fingers crossed it will all be sorted out soon.

I'm still going to write and complain, they really need a better computer system if it takes 4 days to process and order and I'm not happy at having to babysit 2 big boxes for nearly 2 weeks because of their mistake. I don't expect any compensation but if they don't know that customers don't like the service they are never going to change it.

    Thanks for you help!
