Barclays failed to set up ST order

Hi, i thought i just share my experience with you guys here and if possible would like a bit advice please.
Yesterday, I went into a Barclays branch to set up a new standing order for £500 paying into the A&L Premier Direct account. It was a personal banker I sat down with face to face, I could see him typing on his computer (but i could not see the computer screen), then he confirmed that all is ok and been set up, the first payment will come out of the bank account immediately.
However, when I got home last night, I checked online and could not see the ST order showing on my barclays account. I was not worried as I thought this was such a straightforward thing for the bank to do and it might also take a day to show up.When i checked again this morning, it was still not set up. I had to go to the same branch again during my lunch hour and set it up all over again. They could not explain why it was not set up yesterday.
I was not happy and felt cheated and very stressed. I felt that I could not trust anybody there anymore. Also, I might get charges from A&L as the money did not go out yesterday.
I made a complaint to the Branch manager there but was told they could do nothing but appologise and investigate. They made me feel that I was making a big fuss of such a small mistake.
Not sure if this has happened to anybody else. I don't know if I should just forget about it and move on?

You have made your complaint and unless you are financial disadvantged by this then I would just let it be.
But as you have internet banking why not set up standing orders yourself in future?0 -
I have internet banking with lloyds and set my own standing orders up.
Does the Barclays site not have this facility too? Seems a bit unusual?"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
Sorry but OP just has to be a troll!

As far as i am aware with Barclays standing orders they can't be made immediately and usually require 2 working days before the first payment can be made, this may explain why the first payment was not made imediately. You can check, change and delete standing orders using online banking which is probably a more reliable method as you know that you are entering the correct account details and that the payment will be set for the date you want.0
