Direct Legal (hillsden securities) Any info ?

I bit confused here. My O/H has a loan with Mbna which he's defaulted on.

Who now owns this debt ?

Mbna letter today saying 'please accept this letter as confirmation that your o/s balance has been sold to Direct Legal (hillsden securities ) All enquiries payments etc to be made directly to this company.

Ok seems definate enough.

But the letter from DLA Direct dated 10 Sept 2005 says ' our client Mbna has referred your account to me for potential legal action. You have 48 hours from the date of this letter to contact Mbna directly to agree a mutually acceptable repayment plan'.

Did Mbna use DLA originally and then sell on to them? Are DLA in-house for Mbna ? Who owns the debt now ? the Mbna letter seems pretty unequivocal ie 'sold' but I'm not sure because of the previous DLA letter.

Also has anyone dealt with DLA and how have you found them to be ?

Any feedback appreciated.

Sorry about continually posting on my own thread.

I've just googled them - they look like totally different company's.

Actually I'm kind of scared now. This is the first of his debts that have been 'sold on'. It's kind of good in one way ( I'll lend him a low !!!!!! ) but bad in as much as they'll be more aggressive, nasty, go for a CCJ, maybe come calling ? It's like he's moved down the food chain, if that makes any sense.

I didn't say that. I don't know who Direct Legal are. But taht's DLA's contact details. Like I say, DLA are solicitors. Direct Legal sounds like a collection agency to me.

In fact, just googled. Direct Legal don't ppear to be connected to DLA in any way.

    Hillesden Securities Limited

    They are a collection agency.

    Oo-er:

"DLC’s UK-wide field collection operation allow debtors that have not responded to progressive in-house activity to be seamlessly transferred for doorstep collection activity."

I'd get in contact ASAP. It looks as if they might turn up on your doorstep.
