Halifax 10% saver & Faster Payments

Hi all,
Just set up one of these for the (non tax paying) OH. I had to get some money from Kaupthing to First Direct to kick off the standing order, this landed in FD on the 24th.
I set up the SO to send the first £500 immediately, this went on the 25th, but no matter.
My problem is that the £500 is not showing yet in Halifax, despite both accounts doing the Faster Payments thing according to the Apacs sort code checker.
Anyone else done a faster payment to Halifax, I'm slightly worried about missing the boat with a deadline of the 28th.

I have, it's good. In fact any Halifax code is good (11-**-**).

Are you sure FirstDirect are already doing SOs via Faster Payments? Initially, the banks are only doing one-off payments via FP and phase in SOs later.

If the SO has gone via BACs it will arrive to-morrow on the 27th. For immediate payments, transfer by hand for the time being.

I had the same situation a couple of days ago.

I am banking with FD - set up £50 payment to go to the Halifax saver - it took 2 working days to arrive.

I think that FD standing orders are still being sent the 'old way'.

You're right... from the FD website:

Which payment types will be sent using Faster Payments?

You can make Automated Bill Payments (ABPs) and Standing Orders using Faster Payments. However first direct currently only use the service to send Automated Bill Payments. Standing Order payments can be received via Faster Payments but won't be available to send from your first direct 1st Account until later in 2008 or early in 2009.

I should have done the first £500 as a bill payment & not standing order, it's in Halifax this morning so done in the nick of time.

Silly me for thinking that after planning this new system for years & implementing it a month ago that my payment would go this way.
