this is a lovely one dd did it for her nan (should have included a tissue to dry her eyes).
just write one of these poems onto a gift tag and attach to decorated matchbox

    I took an ordinary box
    As empty as can be
I filled it with a special gift
    And wrapped it carefully

But please don't ever open it
    Just leave the ribbon tied
And hold it tightly near your heart
Because my love for you is inside!

This is a very special gift that you can never see.
The reason it's so special is it comes to you from me.
Whenever you are lonely and feeling down and blue,
you only have to hold this gift and you know i think of you.
You never can unwrap it, please leave the ribbon tied.
Just hold the box close to your heart, its filled with love inside.

Such a lovely one this, My boys made them last year for their grandma and nanna. They thought they were lovely.

Such a heart warming poem too.

My kids decorated the boxes themselves and they loved every minute of it!!

mr christmas makes tiny animated musical matchboxes - you can get them on ebay, but the shipping to uk is v. expensive - don't suppose you know anyone who's going to usa on holiday?
my little girl gave out some of the little books that they make last year to her closest grown-up friends (granny, aunties, babysitter) and they all loved them
  • I would like to say thank you for such a fab idea

I normally buy my boyfriend lots of little presents for xmas with a large one too. He normally ends up shaking and feeling lots of the presents and begs to open ‘just one’ which turns into three or four. So this year I am going to fill 24 matchboxes with presents and then he can have his main present on the day (with maybe a few surprise ones to make the morning last a bit longer)

Some ideas I have already are
    • cufflinks
    • bowling tickets
    • cinema tickets for movie of his choice
    • laser quest tickets – he has always wanted to go but never got round to it
    • personal cheque!! :p
    • A small pack of playing cards
    • Love dice
    • Aftershave samples
    • A badge from his football team
    • A tie pin from his football team
    • Jumping beans (used to have them as kids, and went mad when he saw them again recently)

Still need lots more idea, so please post your ideas otherwise my idea won’t work ha ha :rotfl:
