Hawkins Bazzar, is always a good place to look...they have little 'pocket money' sections with little gadgets in and such...they are online but have lots of stores around the uk as well :)

Pound coins nestled in shredded paper or cotton wool?
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.

well budget is around £10 per person ( less if i can manage it) only becasue i am starting early - I could do a cooks matchbox but was thinking smokers matchbox - but I've also thought( getting more costly) about making them all a advent calendar out of matchboxes instead of a gift with the best gift left for christmas day .

I like this idea. its fab I am going to pinch it for my boys.
We had a very quiet no effort christmas last year due to 3 week old new addition.
Eldest is 8 this year and I worried he is not going to belive soon :-( so want to make this year extra special :j

this is a lovely one dd did it for her nan (should have included a tissue to dry her eyes).
just write one of these poems onto a gift tag and attach to decorated matchbox

    I took an ordinary box
    As empty as can be
I filled it with a special gift
    And wrapped it carefully

But please don't ever open it
    Just leave the ribbon tied
And hold it tightly near your heart
Because my love for you is inside!
    _______________
This is a very special gift that you can never see.
The reason it's so special is it comes to you from me.
Whenever you are lonely and feeling down and blue,
you only have to hold this gift and you know i think of you.
You never can unwrap it, please leave the ribbon tied.
Just hold the box close to your heart, its filled with love inside.

If you have around £10 then I know a site on ebay that sells pendants/rings and earings etc. They come from america so take a few days to arrive but I have bought various things now and believe it or not if you have a hunt through you can get stunning silver earings for £3 or £4 inc postage same for pendants. PM if you want the shop name
Recently married and loving it x

I think that the advent calendar is a great idean - the first 24 could be filled with choc's (celebrations and the like) then the 'proper' present on Christmas day! I love it! might actually have to do that for my boyfriend this year!

I love this idea as a different present. I actually remember my grandad when he was alive and my brother was little, used to wind him up by putting something tiny, coin or chocolate in a matchbox, but then wrapping it up and putting it in larger boxes like a pass the parcel type thing and it used to drive my brother crackers, when he got to the tiny matchbox he was pretty much tearing his hair out!! My Grandad used to think it was great! lol.. he was cruel.

    how about these-

some sand, with an IOU for a beach holiday..

an ice cube, to the 'coolest' friends etc. (need to wrap and keep in freezer, or wrap one up just before giving!)

mobile phone simcard copier (from 99p shop- backup all your numbers!)

hand made jewellery (broach etc- tailor to recipients tastes/hobbies)

a subscription to their fave magazine.
Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)

How about those little angel brooches they do in the crystal shops to watch over your loved ones.
    Or birth stones.
