Gas Fitters HELP!!!!

Hi there - I have just had the kitchen done and had a gas cooker fitted. My problem is whn I use two of the gas hobs there is the most horrific smell of chemicals mixed with gas ... can anyone help at all as to what this might be????? I am worried to death!! Thanks

Has the room just been painted? The mixture of paint fumes and gas make the sort of smell you describe.
