HELP PLEASE!!! -- Acer 6920G Wireless

Hello everyone!
Just brought a new laptop and im having trouble with the wireless. My wireless network is a netgear one and is a G mimo or whatever. With my old laptop it was simply a case of scanning for the network and clicking connect and i was away.
I tried to do this with my new acer 6920g laptop and for some reason its saying my network is out of range? If got both my old laptop and my new one side by side and my new acer cannot find it, yet my old dell finds it fine.

My router is upstairs and is able to broadcast well throughout the house and part of the garden because my dell has never had a problem. But the only time my acer seems to work is the odd occasion when im within about 3 metres of the router. Any further and the wireless disappears?


Can anyone help me? Do i need to turn up a frequence somewhere or something?! my acer finds it sometimes but not others. Im getting frustrated with it now. Anything i need to download?

Was your old laptop XP?
Is your new laptop Vista?

Vista is problematical with Wifi. ENsure you have latest WiFi drivers installed on laptop.

Old laptop is a dell inspiron 6400
new laptop is acer 6920g

Router is a netgear G+ mimo thing


Would restartin everything help? Everythings up to date or as it can be as i cant get on the internet to update!!!

Well Coolkitten3003:) I see you have found the Acer forum. Couple of entries on there about problems with Wireless on the Acer's but no solution.

Try connecting to router with a LAN cable and ensure you have all latest updates, Windows and drivers and then try wireless again.
