Sky+ how much electric does it use on standby

Options
At night I don't turn my Sky+ box of at the mains, just turn it onto stand by and the little red glows.

How much electric am i using at night, and should I really be switching it off each night, but can not really wait then for the system to boot up and find the settings.

Would one of those energy saving switch off swiches be any good?

  • you shouldn't switch sky+ off at night at this is when they send new updates to your box.
  • what if you have something series linked that wants to record... granted it might not be likely but all the same....

I had one of those EON Energy usage monitors that connected to my meter and wirelessly displayed the pence per hour i was using.. VERY adddicitive to find the source of things when first got it!!!!! (Started taking shorter showers and cursed every cat that set the 500watt outside light on - when you see it registering £1.30 per hour usage it makes you think!)

Anyway, I found that by turning off 3 TVs of standby, Sky Box, DVD it made 0p oer hour dfferance... Dunno of modern stuff is better in that sence, gone are the days where it costs as much to leave things on standby as it does watch them.......
