I'm actually undecided but leaning towards agreeing with tehone on this one (albeit reluctantly - no offence).
If the request had been for a copy of the CCA then they should already have the signature on file and not need to request a copy of the signature. For a SAR, there may be no signature if they were chasing an overdraft so would need to verify who was requesting the data... but what would they check the signature against?
AAAaaaarrgh
I'd write back reminding them of their legal obligation and ask that they send the SAR details for the owner of account xxxx to the address they have been sending the debt and court details to.After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

Done a little digging and still can't find anything conclusive. One thing i did find was that some people send a copy of their birth certificate and a utility bill.
I'd like to know what documentation is supposed to identify you if you do not have sight of the person being identified. It wouldn't be too hard to get a copy of George Washington's signature, whack that on a scanned driving licence image and do the same to a utility bill.
There is no security. It's even worse when you don't know what these companies will do if you do supply your correct details and signature. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

Thanks george, its a mine field out there. Not too keyed up on this but i it seems strange that they are prepared to send out letters/info to me and then when i make a reasonable request they decide to ask for my ID. I will send the request again, first thing in morning, and if its turned down again perhaps just inform the court of whats happening. Just cannot see any other way around it as at this stage I'm reluctant to send any copy details out. I didn't think my request was unreasonable, surely they have details required already on file. Looks like another sleepless night, i feel sick with the worry of this.0

Thanks guys,
finally got the help that I needed. CPR18!!! Information/help/ preparing defence/, which apparently they are hindering, my request (which was not a demand) is not unreasonable being as they are instigating legal action and have sent previous correspondence, including court/legal papers, with my name on and to my address.0
