You clearly have absolutely no idea the pressure some of the military wives are under when they get posted to countries they dont nesesarily want to be in generally with young children, away from families and then their husband is detached to which ever war the government chooses, the last thing on my mind was saving a few quid swapping bank accounts.
Get a grip women, the thread was initially started to advise those posted in Germany what they could be missing out on, money wise, as thats why we're here in it
Yes any posting is difficult, any posting abroad is even harder but you should try and make the most of it. What average Josephine is in the 'lucky' positon of being able to move every few years around the country and possibly abroad, beats living in your home town all your life.
Moan about how hard it is to the rest of us 'wags' till your hearts contents (plenty of sites where you can do that) but give the bloke a break, he was only trying to help!
99.9% of my posts include sarcasm!Touch my bum :money:Tesco - £1000 , Carpet - £20, Barclaycard - £50, HSBC - £50 + Car - £1700SAVED =£0Debts - £28500 -
yeah im sure he is.0

Then don't save the money on your bank account, it was information/advice not an order, the same goes for everything on this site. If I can get something for free I don't want to pay for it instead! I'm sure other people feel the same and do want to save "a few quid", that's why they're here! I'm sorry my info isn't any help to you - ignore it and find something that is helpful to your and your personal circumstances.
If saving money were easy, this site wouldn't exist! Please note: I am NOT Martin Lewis, just somebody else called Martyn that likes money saving!0 -
Please be nice to all MoneySavers. There's no such thing as a stupid question, and even if you disagree courtesy helps.0

Any excuse to rant, the poor fella who's just trying to help.
You either learn German to hopefully save money or you don't. The choice is yours :lipsrseal.

All these wife/forces personell who whinge about getting posted abroad make me sick. You KNEW what marrying somebody in the forces could entail. Nobody forced you to do it, and nobody forces your other half to stay in. Man up !!!!!! and stop whinging. My wife and I are more than happy to serve abroad and take full advantage of the situation rather than sitting around whinging because you can't get heinz baked beans and nobody is wiping my @rse by providing free german lessons.{Signature removed by Forum Team}0

With trying to sound like a pompous a$$...if you have time to be surfing MSE and writing posts on here - you have enough time to take 15 mins and learn some German each day.
When I was posted to "BFG" in 1985, I was fortunate that I had studied German at school in Scotland, so I had a basic grasp of the language which provided me with a head start when chatting up the local fraulines over a beer or two
As mentioned before, you only really need to learn a few words of German to break the ice generally speaking. Life in Europe of the 21st century is much more English friendly that 20 years ago so you should be able to get by much more easily these days
I work for the Germans these days - in Holland right now so we speak English all day long
Here is a link to an online dictionary (Wörterbüch) if you need some help
