tesco vouchers

None were accepted
Most were Tesco's own coupons sent in a mailing with Clubcard.
One was a non-Tesco product.
I guess I'll be more careful in the future and not present the Tesco's ones at all unless I'm buying the item. I usually only try it when I do a big shop as the products get forgotten from the cashiers memory..well thats my theory!!
I think most of the respondents are missing the problem here!
Tesco will not accept their own "money off product" vouchers, either through a Clubcard mailing or on a till receipt, if you don't buy the exact product. The till will not accept them. They will accept manufacturers vouchers for product you haven't purchased because they can claim the money back with a handling fee.
I just hand over 3 or 4 vouchers (including a JOEY) every time asking "See if they'll scan okay please". 9 times out of 10 they don't impose a limit. If they do there is always next time! Don't be embarrased about it just take it in your stride.Keep Smiling

I also find that your best bet is to use the self scan but beware being in line of sight of over zealous staff and don't be greedy. They never accept their own coupons for non purchases but DO accept coupons, even out of date(!) ones for other manufacturers coupons. I just feed em through to a max of about 5 on any one trip and appreciate they they don't actually HAVE to do this.0

I had an "extra points if you bought £3 worth of Finest cheese" voucher.
I got two lumps of Finest cheddar from the deli (pick your own bit) costing a total of £3.10, but the voucher wouldnt scan. I had to take it to customer services with the cheese to prove it fit the description and she added the points on there, no bother (except finding the cheese in millions of bags of shopping!)
So if you are sure its the right product, do that, else get a refund on the wrong product like the chap with SURE and get the right one!0 -

We were one of the first stores to get self scans but they were programmed to refuse coupons over a certain amount, it seemed to be about £1.20- £1.50. It was awful, the coupon would scan and then the till would beep and the light go on for staff assistance and you had to wait until a staff member came over and unlocked the till and reset it. I gave up using self scan when I had vouchers. Also, our store (Romford Gallows Corner) also refused to do the price difference refund thing if you used self scan, all you got back if an item went through mispriced was the actual difference so I wouldn't use the self scans because of that as well.
It is immaterial now though as all the self scans have been removed (unless they have hidden them somewhere in the recent refit!).

Funny you mentioned that, because I've been having problems with extra points vouchers recently, too. I obviously bought the stuff and fulfilled all the criteria (£x worth of whatever), and the vouchers just don't scan. It's annoying having to go to Customer Services, and as you said, searching for the items in a trolley full of shopping!Clowance wrote:I had an "extra points if you bought £3 worth of Finest cheese" voucher.

Also, some CS assistants believe you when you said you've bought the items and just add on the points really quickly, whereas others insist on seeing the product etc... :rolleyes:0 -

I wouldn't recommend using out of date vouchers. They may scan, but there is a good chance that Tesco won't be able to reclaim the money and then may ban all use of vouchers.
It is abuse of vouchers (photocopying, using vast amounts of the same one, out of date etc) that has led to many stores no longer accepting vouchers at all, unless you buy the item.0
