How about cutting back on the amount of meat you eat and eating more pulses? Rather than getting one meat box a week, get one a fortnight? Also, re-evaluate what you buy from elsewhere, can you buy more own-brand or value things? Can you shop at Lidl or Aldi for the same stuff but cheaper? Good luck.

i already have 1 box a fortnight and with 6 (2 adults, 2 teens and 2 under 10) with very healthy appitites its not going to be easy to cut down further.
I'm going to give aldi ago as i like most of there stuff.

got 4 chickens so no need to buy eggs so going to try and fit baking into my week to save buying cakes/biscuits.

is it better to make my own bread. we use a loaf a day and with the prices rising its getting expensive. would i be better making loaves or buns in batch and freezing for the week?

Freezing the bread is fine Mum2many. As you use a full loaf a day that should be no problem. I make rolls as I found that 2 of us didn't use the loaf before it had gone stale. I still have a BIG bag of breadcrumbs from the beginning of the year lol
