But can I cut down my bills on food and still keep my organic meat and veg boxes???
Hubby could lose his job in the near future and i really dont think i would like to go back to the cheap meat from supermarkets, and the veg is nicer. (i use riverford) in a 4 week month it costs £240
Are there any cheaper options than riverford??
I do try to buy value when i can but some is bleugh
any advice?????

why dont you see if there is any local markets or farmshops near where you live, getting it delivered can be expensive, when there might be a weekly market in your town that sells locally grown veg, and local meat. try to google it or check with you local council. why not try growing your own veg it might help cut your costs down. ive started this year and im a novice but im growing runner beans, rhubarb, gooseberries, blueberries, corn, tomatoes, cucumber, chilli`s, cauli, sprouts, little gems etc. if you have a bit of outside space or a sunny window its surprising what can be grown organicly, check out the greenfinger furum. xOne day I will live in a cabin in the woods0

For meat that's not organic but is very good quality and tasty try Costco. Their veg is good quality as well but I don't find it very cheap and the bags are too big for two of us!Piglet

I used to get a Riverford box too, but stopped when I went back to work because I don't have time to clean all the veg! You'll find the veg hard to beat if you go elsewhere. Sainsbury's organic tomatoes are good but most things will have been in transit and on the shelves for a few days before you buy them.
As for the fruit, I didn't find the the Riverford fruit was up to much, so that would be easy to improve on anywhere really.
I like the idea of growing your own.0 -
How about cutting back on the amount of meat you eat and eating more pulses? Rather than getting one meat box a week, get one a fortnight? Also, re-evaluate what you buy from elsewhere, can you buy more own-brand or value things? Can you shop at Lidl or Aldi for the same stuff but cheaper? Good luck.0

Liar, it's Over Sexed.
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.
