With prices on the up and up, is it worth installing solar panels on the home roof, I know when I read a while back online that even though it was good for the environment (which is what many did it for) it would take along time to reap the rewards back financially but is this still the case, and also there are grants which are available so this would reduce some of the costs.

Payback time puts it out of the equation pc....although lots of home improvements like double glazing and central heating don't payback either, there is an element of comfort and convenience.
With photo cells the comparison would be with the electric grid, cheaper and already installed.

It would be good if new builds were designed and and installed with solar panels for electricity and water.... cheaper if done on a large scale and I'm sure it would appeal to alot of potential buyers.

You may find a bit more emphasis on these in months to come, with perhaps higher grants or price reductions etc

However I wouldn't hold your breath waiting

This is for the large scale 'wind farms'.

The small wind generator for domestic use is even less viable than solar.
