Hi

Well I hope there is someone here who can help?? We are with AOL for internet and are really pleased with it, been with them for about 4 years now. The other day it shutdown and wouldnt let me sign back on saying coudnt detect modem. We rang AOL and tech support took us through usual stuff and managed to get onto AOL 9.0 but we were previously on AOL 9.1

So we are back on the internet (thank the maker wouldnt last without it!)

AOL sent us a new disk and said that we should install that then go to their download site and upgrade to 9.1 from there, we tried that but got the same thing (no modem & then saying restart comp for updates to take effectbut when you click that nothing happens!!

We rang AOL again and they said it sounds like AOL on our comp is corrupt! and need to clear it from registry, we went into registry and deleted anything that said AOL but still having problems??

Im not a tech person so dont know what else to do, computer seems a little slower aswell since we had this problem.

Sorry to ramble and hope Ive explained myself.

Thanks Sez

I don't think you have to have the aol software installed to connect to the internet like they make you believe find the user name and password and use the windows network then use internet explorer or Firefox.

Just sorted a similar sounding problem for a mate of mine on AOL. CPW had changed the server logon details without telling anyone and the service just stopped.
AOL support supplied the new logon details and he was good to go
