Hello
I got an check from Lloyd's tsb bank account name ( Mr XY) today in my post of £1500 on my name by someone written by hand .
I do not know who is this person and why did he send me this cheque on my address.
If i make a deposit in my bank what would be the worth scenario in that case ?
Should i make a deposit or not.
Thanks.

This could be a scam.
You pay it in, it might not be noticed until drawer gets a statement that the 'forged cheque' has gone out of his account. The people that sent you the cheque will then contact you to say that the cheque issued to you was a mistake and could you possibly return the amount less say £50 for your trouble. You sent your own cheque back which they bank , original cheque gets bounced back to your account so instead of being £1500 up you are now £1500 down.
Remember the 2-4-6 rule for cheque clearance does not apply when there is fraud.
I came across something like this only last week.
My advice is if you have no legitimate right to the money then report it to the police along with any e-mails or telephone calls that you are bound to get.0 -

If it's money to which you're not (as far as you know) entitled, then of course not.Stompa0 -
There must be some clues as to its origin...
Was the cheque in an envelope all by itself? Was the address on the envelope handwritten or typed? If typed, any unusual font used? Stamp or franking? What class of mail? Any return address? Any postmark? Does it look like a personal cheque or a business cheque (business cheques are normally slightly larger). Definitely handwritten? Is the handwriting & pen for the cheque the same as the signature? How about the envelope (if handwritten)? What's the cheque number?
Does the cheque have a central Lloyds TSB address or a particular branch? (If branch, does the location mean anything to you...?)student100 hasn't been a student since 2007...0 -
Dont want to sound out of place, but this happend to me once, has anyone you know or related to died, I got a cheque in the post from an old bank for £800 pounds handwritten to me, it turns out a uncle of mine had passesd away and the bank were holding onto the cheques to send out as per his instructions in his will, I was dubious at first until two days later I got a solisiotrs letter to say expect a cheque as part of a will payment, I just got the cheque first0

I was waiting for the payment confirmation email from you all day yesterday but nothing came in. Can you tell me the progress on the payment that was sent to you please. Because you should have received the cheque payment from our customer by now. If you already have the cheque with you, I advise you pay it into your bank account today. Please email me as soon as you have deposited the cheque. Make sure you pay the cheque into your bank account today so that it can meet up the 5 working clearance days. Further instructions will be provided to you soon.
Your 10% should be deducted from the cheque after clearance.
Kind regards
The Manager
