  • If your landlord is a nice person then just ask. Chances are they will be lenient, if not then maybe you are living in the wrong place! I had the worst landlord in the world this year, he was mean, the house was a dump and I don't think I am getting much of my deposit back because he blamed outside damage on us, but one thing I could guarantee on was that as long as I paid him the cheque, I could ask him to wait till any day of the month to pay it in.

    just open another current account - if you transfer your direct debits, they'll give you an overdraft facility while everything's being transferred over (well halifax anyway) equal to your current overdraft so you'd have around £1400 - but all new payments would come out of the new account (perfect really as you can't afford any more to come out of your existing account)
