my son has just signed up to virgin fibre optic he was hoping to use my netgear router, to use it wireless,:confused: does anyone know if he can use it ?as with his virgin modem it doesn't need a phone line, we're not really sure what to do with it:o ... virgin says he needs to buy a wireless router from them but i'm betting there is something more simpler and cheaper than that, any info greatly appreciated :beer:

    I use a linksys wrt45g router and it works fine. Initially tried the one you had, but reception not good. With this one I can get reception from over 50 yards, including loft ,basement and garden

    you need a cable/dsl wireless router, if your netgear model is for BT lines (ADSL), it is the wrong type. You don't have to buy them from Virgin.

    wgr617=for cable lines
    dg834G=for bt lines

    yeah loaner the router is the dg834g, if my son buys a cable router is it easy to set up:confused:

    strange............where's loaners post gone????????????
