my son has just signed up to virgin fibre optic he was hoping to use my netgear router, to use it wireless,
does anyone know if he can use it ?as with his virgin modem it doesn't need a phone line, we're not really sure what to do with it:o ... virgin says he needs to buy a wireless router from them but i'm betting there is something more simpler and cheaper than that, any info greatly appreciated :beer:

I use a linksys wrt45g router and it works fine. Initially tried the one you had, but reception not good. With this one I can get reception from over 50 yards, including loft ,basement and garden0

you need a cable/dsl wireless router, if your netgear model is for BT lines (ADSL), it is the wrong type. You don't have to buy them from Virgin.
wgr617=for cable lines
dg834G=for bt lines
yeah loaner the router is the dg834g, if my son buys a cable router is it easy to set up
strange............where's loaners post gone????????????0
