Aren't ya meant to suck a teaspoon to negate the teary eyes? Didn't have to do it myself as managed to chop all me onions before the tears arrived (just)

Trouble with that base sauce trick, is that cos it's so damn good, you keep eating curries so I'm going to have to make another batch this weekend AGAIN!!

Ahhhh yes I've heard of that one before! I'm usually ok chopping onions but some of these smaller organic ones I've been getting lately aint half strong!!! ... once the first one's done though the tears tend to ease up a bit and I can see what I'm doing again LOL! :D

And no, I didn't get round to making the sauce again today  ... so definitely gonna do it tomorrow ;)

Or you can stick a knitting needle in your mouth, but you WILL dribble. I guess a skewer would work just as well. Quite glad I don't like curry. 6 onions?

Oh, just remembered my other tip: take the top off the onion, leave the root on, stick it in a poly bag and put it in the freezer for 10 minutes. Not too frozen to chop, but the juices are less mobile!
