credit cards abroad

Hi all, i need some help. i'm emigrating to Oz soon but going travelling first. i want to be able to draw on cash when i'm away. i have cash in the bank and i was going to transfer some into one of my credit cards so i can draw on it when i'm away. i know i will be charged for using my credit card, but will i still be charged a merchandise fee even though my credit card will be in the black. i have two credit cards at the moment, an egg card and an amazon halifax card. they are both old and not interest free, and at the moment have zero balance. i am not working as have resigned due to emigrating. can anyone help me as to what to do. kind regards

why not simply withdraw cash on your debit card...

check that the CC allow positive balances ..some do and some don't
Egg Money card allows positive balances and dont not charge for cash withdrawals but I'm not sure about the ordinary Egg.

Nationwide debit card is one of the best to use as it doesn't charge a foreign currency fee (usually 2-3%) , similarly its credit card doesn't either.

presumably you have internet access to your bank a/c and the CCs
  • thanks clapton, that great mate. i wasn't sure if i cold use my debit card. i'm going to asia and not sure if i'd be able to use it over there.
