Hello everyone.
I've just bought an internal LG Blu-ray/HD-DVD drive (GGC-H20L) and put it in a Startech enclosure that has USB 2.0 and Esata output. I've connected it via USB to my Sony AR41E laptop and played a Blu-ray film through the HDMI on my laptop to my Sony Full HD TV. I'm was using Powerdvd 8 which played fine on the PC but jittery on the TV and then when I used Windvd the picture was better but not perfect on the TV. I was looking at Sata Expresscards and came across the one linked below at Maplins but I'm a little confused as it says up 3.0Gbps (300Mbps) whereas USB 2.0 is up to 480Mbps. Have Maplins got the figure wrong in the brackets or is the Sata Expresscard slower than USB 2.0?
Hope that makes sense.

Many thanks in advance for your replies.

The 300 in the brackets is megaBYTES per second.
SATA Express = 3 GigaBITS p/s (300 MegaBYTES p/s)
USB 2.0 = 480 MegaBITS (60 MegaBYTES)
So SataE is faster, but HDTV uses 27 MBITS so I don't know if upgrading your hardware will make a difference.Rules, Rules, Rules .....0 -
Thanks Anthony.
I've already bought the Expresscard but now I've got to get an Esata cable.Always looking for a bargain and to help0
