NPOWER's Price fix - not!

Just called Npower to fix my Electricity prices till 31st March 2009 as they advertise on their site, and also on Television.

"Sorry sir we cannot fix your bill"

As we have electricity only - and we have Economy 7 meaning we have 2 supplies ( which btw means I can't switch supplier as no-one else that covers our area offers a tariff for two supplies!)
...any way as two supplies they can't cap the current rate as we are on a "better rate already" now this "better" rate is just better over night. My daily price per KW is the same as someone who doesn't have Economy 7.

So great, Npower advertise a price freeze to existing customers and they don't honor it. There is nothing in the terms on conditions that mentions any exceptions.

Can't wait until the propose price hike.....

False advertising? they say we'll fix the current rate - then don't!

Edit:

Here are their T's and C's

and sure it says fixing at their Standard Rates but I am on the STANDARD Economy 7 rate, it's still a standard rate just a different Tariff.
There only get out for them is "the offer is limited" Well that covers a multitude of sins!

Offer only available to existing residential npower dual fuel or existing single fuel customers who sign up to take their second fuel with npower. Offer also available to single fuel electricity customers where no mains gas supply is available. To qualify for the offer, payment type must be changed to Direct Debit for all fuels and you must continue to pay that way between 01/04/08 and 31/03/09 inclusive. Prices will be fixed at npower's standard electricity and gas tariffs (including discounts) as at 31/03/08 with a 0% premium on both fuels. Prices will be fixed until 31/03/09 providing there are no increases imposed by any governmental, statutory or licensing authority. Offer is limited, subject to availability and may be withdrawn at any time. Cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer. Offer not available to new customers, existing npower internet, Juice, National Trust, Prepayment, Fixed 2009, Fixed 2011 and Tracker customers.

Do you live in an area where this is mains gas available?

e.g. do any nearby properties have mains gas supplied?

No we have no mains gas either to our property or the local area - but that's ok from Npowers' point of view for price capping.

    Ok,

I see you are currently on a more preferential tariff than npower's standard electricity tariff? Could you get that Standard tariff if you want it? (or does your odd meter situation only allow you to have the tariff you currently have?)

You admit your night rate is lower than the standard E7 tariff and say "My daily price per KW is the same as someone who doesn't have Economy 7." This would also be lower than the standard E7 day rate.

e.g. for Manchester area (all inc VAT):

    nPower Standard Rate:
    first 728kWh per year 14.175p
    additional kWh 12.516p

    nPower Standard E7 Rates:
    first 728kWh per year 19.968p
    additional kWh 13.587p
    night rate 4.410p

It's a single meter with two supplies - and actually three meter readings!
Other suppliers would not even entertain it, not sure if I could just be billed for one static supply.

    Day Rate
Night Rate about 11pm to about 6am
Heat Rate from 2am to 7am for hot water and storage heaters and then a "top-up" from 14:00 to 16:00

27p/KWh for Day - drops to about 12p after 200KW/h's ish.
    5p/KWh for Night
    7p/KWh Heat

I agree it's better than a standard electricity Tariff, but it is just their standard Economy 7 Tariff, no additional discounts etc. Their advert just speaks of their Standard rate. I know what your saying - and I know what they are saying, the tariff I'm on is "unusual" and better due to the night rate but that's not really made clear.

I've worked out that if I was on just a single supply - yes it would cost me more as the majority of the KW's used is for heat and hot water at the cheaper rate. ( along with the washer/bread maker and only letting the kids watch cartoons at 4am in the morning)

I know I'm going to get nowhere but this all seems a bit unfair snd I'll be hit by the price rises.

Thanks for listening to my rant!
