Hooray!  A full account!

At last, I've managed to get a normal account with Maestro card. Guess who obliged?

Natwest!

I was given a Current Plus account with Servicecard 100, which is a Maestro debit and £100 cheque guarantee. They even offered me £1000 overdraft (which of course I turned down).

Thank you very much Natwest, I'll now be able to tell Halifax where to go with their Electron and lack of any kind of "customer care".

:-)

  • If I were you I would forgo the pleasure of telling the Halifax where to go. Frying pans and fire come to mind. However I am not you.

  • Well, that was painless. Got my chequebook and card through yesterday, online banking all up and running, transferred all my DD's and SO's already and withdrew all but a penny from my Halifax account.

Very happy to have a decent account (one that you can withdraw cheques on the 4th day after paying them in, compared to the halifax's seven working day absurdity).

And I bought petrol with my debit card for the first time in years yesterday!

Thanks, Natwest. I will stay with you for a long time for the way you've treated me.
  • I have stayed with the NatWes for decades.
I only have about a £1 in there most of the time.
I changed to Halifax about 20 years ago.
    Now:-
    Halifax Current account  3.0%
Natwest Current Account 0.10% or less
Halifax 2900% better than Natwest on this basis.

  • Each to his own.

There are several on-line current accounts better than Halifax, with linked savings accounts, that come to mind. smile for instance.
