Bank ombudsman, any good for making complaints

Options
Sorry if its the wrong forum but I can find a more appropriate one.
As an executor need to get some info regarding a deceased, ie final bank statements and share tax certificates( for that bank ) etc in order to complete a probate. I have applied for them as has my solicitor but for some reason they wont release the info I require. Is there anyway of forcing them to do so? I am talking about the Abbey National who for some reason seem very reluctant.Every other bank /buidling society played ball but this one has just been stubborn. Thanks

What exactly are they saying to you when you ask for the information?

Not much point in posting if you don't reply to queries, donmaico

Is it a branch you're dealing with or by post? You should be able to get the information a bit quicker if it's requested through a branch. You need to take in the death cert as well as proof of your name and address, and they'll request the date of death figures for you. It then takes a week or so for them to come by post.

The registrar for the shares is Equitini (formerly Lloyds TSB Registrars) who I think are based in Worthing. It's them you need to contact about Santander shares rather than Abbey directly.

sorry for the delay folks .Basically I went to all the deceased's banks filled in relevant forms and got the final statements delivered to me back in January. Did the same with Abbey with regard to to the deceased's shares but got nothing. My solicitor also wrote to them three weeks ago and so far nothing,Its the final thing we need before applying for probate.

If it's just Abbey shares you're after their branches won't be able to do anything, as above you need to contact the registrars. While the branch may offer to do this for you you're far better off doing it yourself.
