Help - is my NPower rate SOL11 actually fixed?
Options
I'm due to move to a SOL 11 tariff with NPower in the next few days but due to the expected price hikes soon I asked about capped rates.
The lady at NPower assures me that the rates I have been quoted on the SOL 11 tariff will never change so long as I stay on that tariff.
It actually seems that capped rates would not be more beneficial to me.
My concers (where I need advice) is, is there anyway that these tariffs could change and she is just using technical jargon to confuse me or are the SOL 11 tariffs really fixed so long as I stay with them.
I'm worried that somehow with price increases NPower will increase these due to me being fully aware of how this all works.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Thats great, quickly get on the phone and ask them for a voice recording of that conversation, if you do get it then stay on that tariff forever.
The truth is, its not a capped/fixed price tariff and may well go up.Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
Phoned back and have obviously bee given completely false info by Npower who I will unfortunately need to stay for at least 28 days now however the tariff does seem to be low and being online is likely to rise but not until after other normal tariffs increase.0

I changed to SOL11 at the same time as OP, and have now received letters saying they have changed my tariff to standard from a date ....you guessed, two months ago. I have had nothing but incompetence from nPower and have just switched, but I can see the small claims court beckoning for this and all sorts of other billing  ..0

This does not surprise me at all!!! I recently had an npower sales duo at my door telling me that Scottish hydro electric had gone bust and I had to change to npower or risk being left without electric and gas.
When I asked them why I would have to sign with door to door salesmen to continue my supplies with a take over company they also heard one mumbled something about regulations.
So i asked them to wait while I phoned hydro electric and asked what has happened they made several excuses and left in a hurry.
I heard one tell the other that I must be a complete B%$*"ard and they dont want smart a£Se c$^&s as customers who know what they are doing.
when I challenged them they told me "pay your high prices your not welcome at npower" I am not making this up it really happened and when I complained to npower I was promised an apology in writing 2 months ago0 -

That's a good one. Seing as Scottish Hydro is part of Scottish and Southern Energy. Several electricity suppliers over the past few years have gone "bust" but no-one was left without electricity! And they've got their facts a bit wrong if they think Scottish Hydro Elec would be a gas supplier!
I agree with you. This is just scaremongering and should be reported to the appropriate authority!Indecision is the key to flexibility0 -
I am about to go live with them in the next few days after switching with U Swith for a fixed rate until 31st July 2009.
The rates quoted are :
Gas
Up to 4572 kWh per year 6.047p/6.39p
over 4572 kWh per year 2.090p/2.195p
Electric
Up to 728 kWh per year 14.28p/14.99p
over 728 kWh per year 11.98p/12.58p
What this means I have no idea but I have this rate as proof of a fixed rate.0
