Hi! I'm still alive!

:D All went fine :)

Sorry I never got back yesterday, We met up with my sis in law and she bought a bottle of wine so I had a glass 1or 3 ;)

Anyway we got there at 8.30, got in at 9. A lovely lady checked our forms all was ok, (thanks to you lovely people as I wouldn't have had a clue) we went to a waiting room and I needed to ask a question so I went bouncing down the stairs past this man, I said "hiya" with a big smiley face got to the bottom and the guard was laughing, I asked her why and she said that was the judge!!! I think I was a bit over happy hahaha.

Back in the waiting room my poor hubby was sitting worried sick, but I've been dealing with it for ages so it was a relief to me. Had to wait and read magazines just like you all said.

Got to see the judge at 10.15, he was formal but nice, asking if we knew the implications of going BR, and if we'd had proper advice, told us we would have a lot of trouble getting credit again. To which I replied "No worries I never want it again anyway". We were BR by 10.20. OR's secretary rang whilst we were out having a walk to clear our heads. Asked a few questions and booked an appointment for us.

I felt a total relief, my hubby was just as you said sort of quiet and a bit in awe. He kept saying I'm bankrupt I can't believe it. But as I said I was relieved as I'm the one who's been sorting it all out. But we had no chance of ever paying our debt so we had to do it. At one point we have been getting charged £22 ever other week by clydesdale financial service, Because we weren't paying enough a month! It went from a £300 debt till over 700 pound! And interest was going on some too. To be honest the best have been Capital One, and barclaycard. So I feel bad about them.

Anyway! all in all it was fine, I'm glad it's over, just the OR now. Which I'm dreading. Oh well we'll just have to deal with that when it happens! I've been honest so there we go. Sorry for rambling on and thank you so much you lovely lovely people for your support, I'd have never got through all that without you. Please don't listen to the trolls as it's people like you we need to help us through. And thanks to the others who are going through it too, we so supported each other.

THANKS xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Me before I found this forum  And me after going through BR with everyone's help :j

Hi Marste....so glad all has gone well for both of you & the first bit is over with.

Can really hear the tone of relief in your post & I am sure that your hubby just needs it to sink in a little...as you say when theres no chance of keeping up the payments...you had no option.

So take a few days to relax & reflect then move on to a new less stressful life. Those credit companies that imposed the high fees & penalties will only have to write off their own debt anyway!!

Take care Honey & keep posting....remember that now you are through this bit your experience will be invaluable to others who are in debt meltdown!

Glad it well - I've got mine next week.

Funny you should say about Capital One ......... they are the only ones that didn't give me any trouble as well.

Well done Marste. Must remember to say "Hiya" to my judge when I see him, or maybe "Hiya, your honour". Obviously worked a treat!

  • That's wonderful news Marste, all the best for you and hubby. Took me a while for it to sink in, and yes, how many of us have gone for a quiet walk afterwards?

I was declared BR at noon today, fely really ill this morning at the thought of what was to come. Young lady (Abby) was very kind and helpful, the judge was also kind and considerate asking if I was aware of implications etc.
I too have to await contact from OR but at least the 1st hurdle is passed. thanks all for the info I have received here!:T
