Pictures in e-mails

Options
I had a need to respond to an e-mail tonight and did the usual insert file and the pictures went into the e-mail message rather than jpeg attachments. What has happened here as I would rather do as attachments?

    Hi superscraper

Thanks for your response but it actually doesn't mean too much to me.

What email client are you using? Can't advise on right settings etc without knowing what program you're using.

You need to provide more information. Superscraper is asking what program or system you use for email. Is it the web-based hotmail or similar, or is it a dedicated email program?

What happens when you attach files? Do they simply not appear or won't they attach?

If you provide more info, I'm sure we can all help!

Sorry I was so vague last night - blame it on tiredness. We use Outlook 2003 (although I can access e-mails at work using MAAF's web mail). As far as I am aware no settings have been changed.

A better way to send files with an e-mail is to use a facility such as:

    https://www.yousendit.com/

You don't get large files clogging up your e-mail client whilst they are being downloaded.

Did you press "insert picture" or "insert file"?

Could be something to do with the format of the email you've composed. The RTF format places inserted files in the document body, html versions have them as downloaable attachments.

    Hi everyone

I can only put last night's episode down to extreme tiredness. I normally do an 'insert file' and then attach anything I wish to send. However, I have a feeling that last night I did 'insert picture'. I have just done a dummy e-mail to myself with pictures attached and all showing as jpegs.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. Hopefully I won't have another senior moment tonight.
