Looking for free websites for advertising my apartment to let

Hi,

I'm about to embark on letting my property out for the first time and i'm looking for ideas on how to advertise cheaply and effectively. In particular i'm looking for quality websites that allow you to post adds free. Does anybody know any? Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks.

And the most prone to scammers and fraudsters. It's where crooks find their victims. You should read this post for one victim's story.

If you decide to use a 'classified adverts' site, checkout their anti-fraud advice and moderation policies (and user's forum for complaints.)

Don't presume that because you're the Landlord/seller that you're immune. They just use a different variant of scam on sellers/landlords.

Best advice is to look for a well moderated site or one which has an active policy about advert and reply policing.

If you've never been a landlord before then it *could* be cheaper to employ an agent- e.g. in the instance of getting a rogue tenant!

You still need to do your own homework though as LAs aren't regulated and if they get anything wrong (gas safety/deposit protection/EPC etc) the buck stops with you.

..but on the other hand you may end up with both a rogue tenant *and* a rogue LA ;)

Try advertising on https://www.vivastreet.co.uk or letalife or go via your local LL association - membership fee tax deductible, access to useful support plus members usually pass on potential tenant enquiries if their own properties are full (you can also use your membership to get deductions on your LL insurance premiums)
