cash cheques

I want to transfer a card balence but isnt it easier to phone the company up and ask for a interest free cheque like they send out in thier junk? Also I only have a smal amount to transfer at the mo.(£200), should I get all my spending out of the way first then transfer it all or can I add to a new card once ive transfered to it?

  • Hi the radish,

If you ring the company up and ask for a cc cheque to be sent to you, you'd then have to wait for Royal Mail's snail to deliver it, then you'd have to write it out and present it, then you'd have to wait for the cheque to clear. It might take a further 2 weeks before you even smell the money.

If you ring the company up and ask for a money transfer into your account, it's done there and then, and you'd just have to wait however long it takes for the transfer to clear.

To answer the latter part of your question, DO NOT spend on the same card you did a BT on. Believe me, you DON'T want to mix up different interest rates on any card. Keep a BT card strictly for BTs, and keep a separate card for spends only. You'll thank me for this advice!
