Cable TV freezing - why?

My DVD and TV are working perfectly by pictures coming through my cable are freezing for a few seconds constantly. I'm wondering whether it is my wiring or whether I have a fault on my cable.
I've got a Virgin (Telewest Blueyonder as was) Pace box, connected to a modern Sony DVD recorder via a good quality scart cable. The DVD connects to the Panasonic TV with both a good quality scart cable and a TV aerial cable (which enters the system at my DVD).
Is this wiring correct?
Any clues what might be causing the momentary freezing on just the cable picture?
Thanks

I've now bypassed the DVD completely and I've got the cable box scart going direct to the TV but it is still freezing.0 -
Is your Virgin box quite well ventilated? You don't have anything stacked on top of it do you?0

we have virgin, top set box would take ages to come online when power was cut, would flash on and off.
they replaced the top set box free of charge. contact them, tell them you cant watch it, an engineer will be & replaced FOC.
if you pay for it, and it dont work, you want it replaced.0 -
It could be the cable as well. We had problems with ours a while back and that was fixed by replacing the cable in the house.
For virgin problems there's not much poitn asking on here as you rent the equipment from them so they will fix it for nothing if it goes wrong. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0
