Hi there,
Has anyone used the Croydon online benefits calculator. Apprantly they would give me more housing benefit than my rent which is most probably wrong. Is there a way of doing this with out actually submitting a claim (i'm thinking something alon the lines of entitled to)
I dont want to make a claim as its a hypothetical situation. I think it will end up woth a long phone call but just wondered if you knew anything else.
thanks
sarah

Housing benefit has been changed to Local Housing Allowance (LHA) and there is a set rate amonut that they will pay for different types of houses. If your rent is lower then this set rate you get to keep £15 per week of it.

Thanks.
I am going to have to look into it a bit further but if they hae fixed amounts per house rather than based on individual circumstances then they would be paying all my rent and have extra money. Thats crazt you'd think that rather than paying someone extra money they would use that in other areas. I'm sure it makes sense somewhere down the line. One day, I AM going to be out of debt. LHA is dependant on circumstances,e.g. if you are just a couple living in a 3 bed home then all you get is the equivilant rent of a one bed flat in your area0

Your eligibility for LHA would depend on your household income.Gone ... or have I?0
