Have a look at the above thread if you are contemplating buying a kitchen from B&Q.

Having read the first post on the thread Nowse, I too was quoted a high fitting fee from B&Q , when the designer had completed her plan and pic I said I did not need the fitting and she never pushed it or questioned it. To be honest I got the designer in because it was free and no obligation and I was worried there would be high sales pressure but nothing was pessurised . Perhaps I look like the type that knows what I want and can't be pressurised. All I know I was offered the free service given the cost and a list, a price for installation and said Thanks I will look at it, I don't need installation and can I take out what I don't think I need? . She said yes and the quote would last for 6 months. I ordered within a month taking off £279.00 for handles got them at Ikea for £80 and luxury items such as drawer inserts and have six months to return any boxes not used. My experience has been good and I sympathise with the comments on the thread you quoted and had I seen them first I would not have considered them, but I ddin't see them so I can only comment how they were for me .I have a huge kitchen and small Utility room. A kitchen fully fitted and Utility room for £2400 I had more than enough money to order a designer Radiator £300 and an American fridge Freezer from Comet £814 ( a big No No On service, another story) We fitted it ourselves with an over view of a competant joiner who put in the work tops. All we have do now is finish the floor and put the lights under the high units.
I can't tell you how good the units are because they haven't been used enough but I dont plan changeing them for the next 15 years. Please remind me If I start to compalin in the next few years

Saveit, e-cloths are really good. They are recommended by cooker manufacturers for keeping stainless steel shiny. They are great for cleaning windows - just spray water and give a quick rub. Great for anyone with sensitivity to chemicals as you only need water. They are on eBay, but I have seen them much cheaper in B & Q. I think they were around £3.45 for two, a general purpose cloth and a glass/polishing cloth. You can also get cheaper versions for £1 in Poundstretcher/Instore.

    Howdens Joinery get my vote

Just ordered off them, you get them to come out and do a free plan and design.
after some fine tuning we were all happy and he gave us a quote by post.

Very very reasonable and its all in stock if not its available next day?
it isnt flat pack its pre assembled. (plus and minuses for both types)
they will provide you a contractor to fit it, and you arrange a price with them direct if you ask for it.

As a side note, they have an offer on at our local branch ends october 25th( warrington) and you make them a reasonable offer for the kitchen, regardless of price and they will come to an arrangement. they always do this in october, not sure why?

As an example my kitchen was £4400 delivered no appliances.
    3 - 500mm big larders full height
    11 - 500/600/800mm draw line floor units
    14 - 500/600/1000mm wall units
12m of worktop and assorted fixings etc
    soft close drawers, and doors
    sink and taps
    stainless 700mm splash back
plinths cornice flyover and kick plates
    600mm extractor

i removed the extractor as could get same one for half price from sainsburys
    saving £400

so i rang up and asked for the whole kitchen for £3400? (thought i was pushing my luck £600 off

rang back same day and said £3300!!!! as long as i take delivery before 25th october.
    Bargain i thought?

Only problem is i need to store all that stuff assembled?? for over a month until i can fit it WHOOPS.

this will be 3rd kitchen in 6 years off them (3 houses) and every time the service and after sales, if needed for spares etc is superb.
i would reccomend (and have done) to anyone.

IKEA is worth a look. Get MFI or B&Q to do the design work, then choose from the budget suppliers.

& dont forget to apply instore for their IKEAcard - 5% off 1st purchase & free drink on each visit!!!

Ours is gloss black & kept clean using spray glass cleaner - see what you think...
