Cost of scaffolding

I am currently painting the outside of my house. The house is detached, with an apex roof that runs from the front to the back.
I have been up the ladder and painted the two sides, including the soffits/facias, which is just about at the limit of my ladder. However getting up to do the apex requires getting up another 6-8 foot. I have borrowed a friends longer ladder, and have been up to the apex, but TBH its a little bit "scary" working up a ladder at that height, especially as at least one hand will be off holding a scraper/paintbrush/etc.
What would be ball park figures for getting scaffolding erected, left for a week, then disassembled again? (Hampshire area if that makes any difference)
Scaffolding would be required at just the front and back (not the sides): The house is approx 8 yards wide, and two storeys (about 6 yards) high, with the apex approx 2 yards beyond that.
Are there any other alternatives - I thought about cherry pickers, but hire shop websites indicate they are too expensive!
Thanks in advance
Dave

Scaffolders tend to charge you for erection and removal rather than time it is up. We scaffolded the back of a terrrace house inc. going onto the roof and it was £800. A cherry picker is a better option. The website prices are the retail over the counter price and bear little resemblance to what you would actually pay. I hired a CP a few weeks ago and the list price was over £400, but it ended up at £168. The alternative is to get a decorator in who is used to working at heights and will do it for you. Prob cost less than the price of a CP.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

Cheers phill99 - I feared it would be a bit pricey!
I have found a cherry picker now for £135 per day, and £75 for each extra day.
I think I will start off up the ladder and work up the apex (so I will get higher and higher as I go along) - and if I bottle it, then I'll get the Cherry Picker! If I can get some of the lower bits done using the ladder, then I will have less to do with the CP and could therefore only require it for one day. The ladder itself is very stable.0
