Just been rejected for a Virgin C.C.

Have been a regular "credit card tart" - for about the last 2 years. We also took out a loan for some home improvements (October '07), but have moved at least one card since whose 0% deal had expired to another.

Is the first rejection I've had - have not applied for another other than the last change (have 3 on the go!) - that was about 3 or 4 months ago.

Is it likely that I have now exceeded my amount of "searches" - and it is not worth applying for a while? (if so, how long?) Or is the Virgin card a bit harder to get, and/or it is worth trying with another company.

Our repayment record is 100% ok, and never missed a payment, although we generally only make the minimum payment.

Many thanks

  • is it possible to go back (apply again) to previous lenders - i.e. those whose cards we have had before. The lenders for example were Morgan Stanley and HSBC - then these were moved when their 0% deal period expired.

They will treat as new applications and as such a new credit search will be done. Myself I tend to keep my credit cards because I always receive good promotional rates as an existing customer. I think the age of the tart may be over.
