This is just a quicky..

But the carriage was free? no?
so,
1) In theory, if i return the item, they would have to refund me back the full amount?
2) if i pay by credit card is it easier to claim money back in case of a dispute?
3) Also can shops enforce a "restocking" fee, is this a legal allowance as well? (i have seen this on another website)

DSR means you should be at the position you were before you started the transaction, so they should refund your original postage costs, as this was free postage, they cannot hold this back, so you should get all your original payment back
You are responsible for the return cost of the item, if the company does not offer this,
Some companies charge a restocking fee, which IMO is not right, but not illegal,
I am not sure about your credit card point? as most transactions on the web go without a hitch, unless you think the company may not pay you back? (in which case credit card is better than debit)0 -
Seems a good place to ask a question that's been puzzling me of late.
I buy a lot of stuff on line, small stuff, for even though I can see savings by buying the likes of televisions I’m cautions. So riddle me this when you buy a product in one of your local shops it is quite clear where you go to if the article proves faulty or is otherwise not fit for purpose. Your contract is with that shop.
Now let’s move the case forward a little and imagine you buy a book or a DVD from say Amazon and well there are two or three pages out of the book or a big score down the DVD it’s quite easy to contact Amazon and they’ll honour their contract. Well I’ve always found that they are facilitating even if in some cases they are not legally obliged to do so.
But let’s get to the meat of my question (sorry if there are any veggies reading this) Say I buy a television from Amazon, now that’s a big, expensive parcel. It’s delivered to my door, I set it up and for two months it works fine then tragedy the sound goes, the picture goes all wobbly, or it dies – even worse I’m watching Martin
The set is well within guarantee – what is the situation, who is responsible for sending the parcel back to base who meets the expense.
Even more difficult is the case where I buy through an Amazon reseller, or what every they are called, does the purchaser have to foot the cost of returning the product to base? And say the firm doesn’t honour the guarantee where does that leave the purchaser?
Then of course there are the likes of e-bay. What’s the procedure if you buy from one of their members, we’ll keep it simple and say it’s a business, leave the individual sales out.
My reason for asking is not that I’m in any of the situations above but with more and more people buying online and more and more savings to be made questions like I’ve outlined above are going to become more common, it’s best to know the answer before your in the situation.
