I'm sure someone posted the other day one of the panansonics was on amazon for about £60 - worth having a quick look?
also if you belong to a cashback site, pigsback or have a nectar card you can get points/ cash back!:D
Aldi with their super 6 are good value for f&v - lidls are good too, try them out and see how you get on0 -
Try wrapping green bananas in a tea towel and keeping them in the fridge. The tea towel insulates them from the cold so they don't go black but they don't get ripe either. Then take them out when you want them to ripen.
I've been experimenting with this for a few weeks and they stay nice and green.Piglet

ooo now thats worth knowing!! i do my shopping online monthly which means bananas generally only get eaten in the first week in this house as they go off otherwise. dya reckon i could stretch them to 2 weeks?im gonna give this a go, trouble is after a monthly shop my fridge is heaving with food in the first week and id struggle to find room...gawd nothings ever simple is it!
i could however relegate oh`s beer from the fridge to be chilled in the garden pond instead leaving me plenty of room for the bananas
... hmmm tie a piece of string to the cans and attach the other end to the fence panel and drop in the pond with the frogs :rotfl: dya think he`d go for it?? its all in the name of moneysaving hehe:money:

Lesleyxx, and I bet there are ethical/welfare considerations for so many things we buy (eg cakes may well be made with battery eggs, egg mayo etc). I do GC so that I can cut back on some things while being able to buy also some ethical/fair trade/freedom food stuff also. Thankfully where we are there are often local eggs- from free range hens, taste much nicer and often cheaper. I think each and every one of us will make different and difficult decisions when we do our food shop, and maybe all choose to make different sacrifices too ? hth

i am going to get shot down in flames here but it doesnt seem the healthiest of diets?
Fruit or veg would be a better option then the fruit juice , because you would get more benefit from the whole product0 -
Just wanted to say thanks to you all, we did our monthly shop today, and taking into account the milk and fruit we will buy weekly for the next 4 weeks, the whole month comes to £200 on the nose, including our food, toiletries, cleaning, nappies/wipes and formula milk, so :j :j :j and THANK YOU!*** Matched betting: £422.69 *** :T0

:hello:
I know a few people have mentioned growing your own herbs - I do this, and not only do I freeze some for when I want 'fresh' herbs, I also dry them myself. You can do it either in the microwave or in the oven - just spread out on a plate/baking tray until they are dried and 'crispy'
Then you can crumble them up with your fingers or whizz them in the food processor, dependng on how fine you want them to be.
If you don't want to grow every single herb from scratch, you can sometimes pick up packs of fresh herbs in the whoopsied section - my local Asda reduces the packs to 10p each, usually one or two days before the best before date. These are ideal for drying yourself.Mortgage Free as of 03/07/2017 :beer:0
