Ryanair - on line check in
Options

If you're taking advantage of Ryanair's nice cheap flights and want to use the check in on-line option, then:
1) You can't use Mozilla Firefox Version 3, as it won't let you view and print the boarding pass.
2) You can check in up to 5 days before your flight, but must do it at least 4 hours before your flight time at the latest.
It would be nice if they'd tell you all this BEFORE you try and do it, otherwise I wouldn't have left it 4.5 hours before my flight, then realise that it doesn't work using mozilla firefox v3, so ended up having to pay for the pleasure of queuing and checking in at the airport. Doh!
At least I knew for the return flight, but it's a bit odd answering questions like "have you packed your own bag" when I hadn't even packed it yet. Unless some people really do pack their bags 5 whole days before they travel????

Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

I did mine on Firefox no problem, are you missing a plug in or something? The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

If they are flying out on Saturday and returning on Monday, you should be able to check them in for both the outbound and inbound flights on Friday. You will have to print boarding passes for both the outbound and inbound flights. If it was any longer, then they would have to check in for the inbound flight online and get the boarding passes printed whilst they were out there (internet cafe, hotel, etc), or Ryanair will charge £4 per person as they would have to check in at the desk.0 -

I don't think we're missing anything (OH is computer boffin and makes sure everything is always up to date  ), although we had downloaded the latest version 3 the other day. Did you use version 3 or 2?
It worked fine at first, we spent ages filling in all the boxes, typing in passport numbers etc... then when it came to the crucial bit of printing the boarding pass, all that appeared was a single row of odd text on an A4 page. Worked fine on IE (but was too late then!!).
I presume if you're going on a week long holiday, then you need internet access during the week to check in for the return portion of the flight, or you pay Ryanair £4 for the pleasure of queuing and boarding the flight after all the "priority" boarding passes!!
I do like their method of making you board and leave the plane quickly, by playing that hideous "pizza hut" rockers tune, or whatever it's called, over and over.... ARG! And when you land on time, they play you a fanfare! The world's cheesiest air line :rotfl:Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')

I used 2 the last time, haven't done it yet on 3 possibly a new glitch. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

I've noticed a few glitches in 3 - especially if you use the screen zoom - greatly better than IE 99% of the time but some websites trip it up.
As regarding the return flight you need access to a internet connection and a printer if you need to check-in whilst your at your destination.
I used an internet cafe when I went to Dublin, think it cost me E1 to checkin and print my boarding passes.
Obviously if your folks aren't computer savvy they may need help doing it or will just have to pay to checkin for the return journey (is it about £6 at the airport and £4 beforehand?)

MPI have a poll / discussion on Economy 7 / 10 off-peak usage (as a % or total) and ways to improve it but I'm not allowed to link to it so have a look on the gas/elec forum if you would like to vote or discuss.

Right, initial post updated to say V.3 of Mozilla Firefox!
It was £4 each to check in at the airport, so not sooooooooo bad, but more annoyingly we missed out on priority boarding, so had to sit in whatever seats were left. We did get to sit together though, so it was all fine!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')

It's not really Ryanair's fault though is it ? Seems more that it's a problem with Firefox v3. Perhaps you should change the title of the thread ?0

I'm flying with them for the first time next week.I think I'll take some earplugs!
Thanks for the information about 'online check-in'.I was confused why I only got a boarding pass for the outward journey, now I understand why!
It would help if their system didn't grind to a snail's pace at least once a day though.0
