Gatwick Airport Into London
BurntOut
Travelling to London in Oct for the NFL game, just wondering if anyone can recommend cheaper ways to get into & around London. Have noticed the Gatwick express is quite expensive, wud alternatives be as efficient.
Also with the tube I would be wanting a 3 day unlimited pass, I see some peop recommend the osyter card but you cant purchase it for 3 days onyl a week???? so how can this be cheaper than me purchasing the 3 day off-peak travelcard which I think someone said was around £17.40
Thanx for you advice in advance:beer:

it's cheaper to get a normal train from Gatwick to Victoria (Southern rail) takes approx 40/45 mins. have a look at www.thetrainline.com
there is also a national express coach service (around £7) but it will take at least 90 mins!
hope it helps.2017 wins over £50: Yorkshire break, Tefal Actifry0 -
as others have stated there are other ways.
I'm going on a train from clapham junction (i live in london) but it goes all the way through to victoria. Alternatively you can go to croydon and get the tram to wimbledon, theres plenty of different ways, the gatwick express is just the quickest way.
I've not heard of a 3 day unlimited pass but depending on what zones you need (ie. where are you staying as victoria is in zone 1) then daily travelcard may be cheaper or alternatively if you aren't using it a lot some days a return may also be cheaper for you. Its worth deciding what your doing and when before you buy the tickets.
By the way, Oyster provides everything that ticketed tickets do, so if you can do it on a ticket, you can do it on oyster.0 -
if you get to clapham junction you are 2 stops on the train to waterloo (incase you are going anywhere near there) and have good tube/bus links from there (again depending on where you are heading onto)Keep the Faith:cool:0

Avoid the coach, the road is really slow as none is dual carriageway once you get inside the M25, and it's not much cheaper than the southern train. Don't forget that you can get to London Bridge/Kings X on thameslink directly from gatwick.0

They are talking about a pay as you go Oyster which caps at 50p a day less than a one day travel card used for the same journeys.
A 3 day off peak travelcard for zones 1-6 is £20. The £17.40 is zones 1-2 only and is also peak - no off peak reduction.
PAYG Oyster is likely to be your cheapest option0 -
