I am on my sons machine posting this as I darent put that one back online till its eradicated. Looking now for a solution & shall be running the superantispyware to see what that comes up with in a few mins.
I think I might already have the answer but has anyone else had this happen.
I updated AVG this morning and did a full scan.
Lo and behold it finds a virus in the Temporary Internet files named A003345A.exe,, ( Zblob )
So. Avg removed and quarantined it, Tuned off system restore, restarted, scanned again and gone... I thought!
1 hour later up pops an AVG box,,,Its still in the temporary internet files but now with a different file name ( A87767r3.exe )
Ive ran HijackThis and there is NO occurrence in the log of either of the above exe files nor are there any others remotely similar. Clean as the proverbial whistle in fact!
Last clean reformat and install on it would be well over 12 months ago but I did a roll-back in April when this EXACT same thing happened and have since re-installed XP Home back over the top ( Lazy I know but quick ).
So..Could this be a corrupt XP Installation CD ( proper licenced one ) and if so is there any way of telling apart from doing a totally fresh reboot and rescan?
Any ideas welcomed.
