SkintyMcFlinty wrote: »Hi - I've given you all thanks - hope thats good etiquette!! Very good etiquette:D:D gold star for that :beer:Thank you all for your helpful comments. The CCCS rang and gave me lots of things to be getting on with, mainly finding myself a rental and moving into it asap! Also, stop all non-essential DD's, pretty much what you guys have said. Glad to have a plan of action. So, (1) ring estate agents and enquire about rental properties and the prospect of a skint tenant (2) stop DD's and (3) ring court for BR papers. So, watch this space.
Thanks again x x

Hello again. Well, EEK! I've just cancelled all my DD's. Now I've got to go and withdraw my cash - do you think that will look suspicious. This feels so covert - I feel a bit weird about it!!
Can you believe I've had a drive round to look at potential rentals this evening? Sorry, once I've got a plan I've gotta do something (haven't got the dosh to do anything yet but its good to know whats out there).
Gonna be brutally honest with potential LL's so they get no surprises when the OR comes a knocking. (I say that flippantly but I'm chewing a nail as I write.) In fact, I think I'm almost in the feotal position (sorry about spelling).
However, I do feel more positive than this afternoon when meltdown was setting in. Thank you guys and thanks for the welcome. Please bear with me in the months to come - I'm sure there'll be a lot more panicking....ALWAYS HAVE A PLAN B

If you tell potential LL about your BR then make sure you highlight the fact that having no debts makes you an ideal tennant as you will have the money to pay the rent and bills.
Best of luck with it all.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -

Good afternoon! So, (deep breath) I've done 3 things today - rang court to send BR papers (might as well have a look asap so I know what to expect), rang estate agents and been upfront about my situation (surprisingly little reaction, they're just bothered if I can pay the rent - apparently) and am in the process of lining up some viewings toot suite and lastly, kept my boss informed.
I'm just about to go to the cashpoint and withdraw as much cash as I can (from current account only) - I just haven't got the front to go into a cashier - is that really wimpish of me? Me thinks I need to grow a pair! I've cancelled my DDs (wonder how long it'll be before the nasty contact starts) but I guess you can't be too careful and I need that money to put towards my deposit..... that was me psyching myself up!
Right, thats it for now just off for my tea - thanks again for your kind support, it really makes a difference x xALWAYS HAVE A PLAN B

Hey Skinty
I was where you are about 6 weeks ago, and believe me it does get better!! I used to write down anything and everything that occurred to me, just spew it all out and get advice.
Me and H are now bankrupt as of 11th June, awaiting our OR interviews in early July. Moved into rented over the last week, and once we have cleared out the old house will be going down the voluntary repossession road.
So just to say, you're not alone mate!

Hi - Thanks Dalip and Merry! I feel so much better knowing that I'm not alone and there are people 'out there' who know exactly what I'm going through.
I must admit that a little bit of panic has set in from the whole cancelling of DDs. I keep thinking what if I can't move quick enough and my creditors go straight for CCJs and I end up in a bigger mess than I am now. Have I understood it correctly that CCJs cannot be included in BR? Can this scenario happen? As of today, I am all paid up on everything - this month will be the first month I've missed a payment on anything for years.
Am stressing a bit.
I think I might be able to move by the end of next month if everything goes to plan and file for BR shortly after.
Merry, I'm taking your advice and spewing

I believe it takes time to get a CCJ, by which time you should have gone BR so you should be fine. We had moved by the first month after cancelling payments and when we received phone calls about the missed payments just said we were going BR. A few of our creditors explained that until we went BR their system would automatically pick up on non-payment and we might still receive phone calls but just to let them know our BR number when we had it. So don't panic mate

CCJ's can be included in BR. Your BR just about trumps everything
