Anti-Virus and other useful programs for Mac?

Options
Hi

Have just bought myself my first Mac. Having been a Windows user for years I am still in the mindset that I need Virus & Spyware protection. Therefore can anyone tell me what the best Antivirus & Spyware product is for the Mac. A free one would be best  but obviously I would be happy to pay for the right product.

Also does anyone have any useful apps that I should download which will make my Mac experience more enjoyable?

Many Thanks
