Driving in London

However, getting from the bottom of the M1 to central London is not a particularly quick journey by car, especially on a Sunday when the shoppers at Brent Cross cause chaos.
I've never known there to be problems with traffic at brent cross? The majority of traffic is along finchley road which can be bypassed by legally driving in the bus lane.

I travel through Central London quite frequently, and have never had any problems. I would never drive on a motorway though - far too stressful! Give me Central London anyday.0

standards of driving in london are no worse than most other big cities. satnavs do help, but often send you along residential rat-runs with lots of speed bumps and traffic calming. Good luck!0

Borrow a tatty looking transit. I drove in London for ages in a work van and couldn't understand what everyone was bothered about. I obviously looked like i wasn't about to be bothered if I get a few dents and scratches.0

Sat navs can be unhelpful - the city is so built up that often the instructions come too late to action, causing no end of issues.
I wouldn't rely on satnav anywhere, especially London.0
