Anyone else getting slow emails?

I noticed a delay on outgoing emails yesterday and rang our ISP - they said there had been a problem earlier but it was fixed, and that there might be a backlog.
Emails were taking up to 2 hours to arrive. Other offices using the same ISP had similar problems.
This morning, and I'm still getting delays - 1-2 hours still. Offices on different ISPs seem to be able to get mail to my BT webmail, but it's still taking 10 mins or more.
A test mail sent from my BT webmail to my work email has still not arrived after an hour.
Is there some heavy UK-wide hardware stuff going down, or am I going mental? My ISP say it's not their fault, and are starting to get shirty!

We had problems sending emails to NHS trusts on Monday, took over 30 mins to arrive. Was def a problem at their end. Fine as of today.0
