DR30 Motor Insurance Quote

Quick question to see if any members have had experience of trying to get a renewal for a DR30 quote, I'm trying to find some quotes for my uncle who's a bit "slow with t'internet".
Ban was 18months with a 4month reduction with a course (14months ban) and he's back on the road next month, so was just shopping around for quotes for him but I've found a lot of the places are quite astronomical in price or just refused to quote me (directline for one).

A DR30 is the code for "Driving or attempting to drive then failing to supply a specimen for analysis". As such insurers are likely to take a very dim view of such a conviction because it indicates that (a) the driver was in all probability driving while under the influence and then (b) refused to cooperate with the police in terms of providing a sample. Basically - he will not find cheap insurance until this is spent; all you can do is get as many quotes as you can. You could perhaps try a more specialist firm like Adrian Flux.0

Adrian Flux?? they were the most expensive, money grabbing, least compassionate 'insurers' I ever wasted my money ringing!! DON'T bother with these! :mad:0 -

His best bet is to try a broker rather than online. There will not be many insurers who will want to quote terms - perhaps try the company he was with when he was convicted and see what they say.
Raymondo2nd - why would you expect insurers to be compassionate? They are in business to make money - I spoke with representatives at Adrian Flux and found them to be very helpful albeit I did not place the risk with them because they wanted to write the business in a different format to what was required - but the staff were very pleasant to deal with.0 -
I think with this kind of conviction you can kiss goodbye to competitive quotes from mainstream insurers. The odd SP30 for slight speeding is one thing but a DR30 is as others have said a very serious conviction.
If you look in the back of mags like max power there are some companies that advertise saying the specialise in dealing with convicted drivers. It may be best to contact those kids of companies as your average high street insurer will not deal with this kind of risk.
ETA i see that someone has just dug up a 2 year old post!!!0
