Suziq, did you know you are now entitled to extra tax credits and carer allowance(if you earn under a certain amount).Give tax credits a call and tell them about the award and the date your award was from. You will be very suprised at the difference.:D0

Could I ask if anyone has any experience of filling the forms for this? My son was awarded DLA when much younger, form was filled out by someone from a local support group and we recieved the highest amount for a year. It then stopped suddenly and as I was in and out of hospital myself I just let it go. I have now been advised to reapply by his school as they are shocked I am not recieving anything, especially as we have to pay for our own SALT in this area.
I was supposed to be having an advisor from the same support group out today (have waited weeks-form due back by 27th!) to be told this morning she is sick and they have no one else available for several weeks as the 2 other volunteers who do this have children in hospital at the moment.
I am completely flummoxed by the questions-ie how many times does he need help,as I seem to be sorting out problems with him constantly at home and I know school can find him very dificult, although he doesn't have extra help at the moment aprt from his senco and another educational specialist who comes in,observes him and advises re programmes for him.
I don't want to just put 'constantly' as I know they won't accept that! If I can't get help I am going to have to stop his SALT as on income support it is such a struggle even without paying £30 an hour for that.
Any help and advice gratefully recieved!

When you go to Legoland or similar, take your DLA form and you will pay entry for your child but as the carer, you will enter free of charge. You can also get each member of your group 'stamped' and the 'affected' child with a different coloured stamp - this will mean you go to the 'exit' of each ride and by pass all the queues and get on straight away. (Ignore the stares from other people who are queueing - they are just ignorant)0

Ive got used to stares over the years .Who cares what people think as long as your child has a good day:rotfl:0 -

Precisely. It is sad that people would rather think a parent and child are 'weird' or just plain !!!! parents than wondering if there is a hidden problem. I have lost count of the (usually old people sorry to say) who have told me to give my DS 'a good slap':mad:Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:
I have done reading too!

The worst place we have been re disability is Disney land paris who have recently changed all their arrangements for disabled guests. We went in February this year and I was in a wheelchair. We were unable to go on some of our favourite rides-including peter pan-as we were not allowed to all queue togther. This would have meant either my 12 year old riding with me,having to manouvere the wheelchair etc and husban and youngest with asd queueing and riding seperately,or my husband being with me and 12 year old supervising his younger brother (no way!!!!!!) when we went to the town hall to ask we were told this was the deal now. When my husband said 'if that's the case we may as well go home' the rude young french lady in there said 'yes,ok you go home!' Although we complained to head office Disney they refused to answer this complaint and stated that the disabled rules stand now.
Admittedly we were placed in special viwing areas for the parades-which was great, but we only did half what we used to do,due to the new rules.Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!0 -

Thats shocking,i wouldnt go back on principal.Legoland fantastic we used to go every weekend.Season passes arnt that pricy they used to ,dont know if they still do, refund your ticket price for the day if you buy a season ticket on way out. If your ever up this neck of the woods , give flamingoland a go fantastic , its a zoo as well as theme park and holiday park.Great place and great with disabled guests.0
