Uni causing a headache. Basically because of the wrong piece of paper and some stupid rules, I've failed the year.

Gem:grouphug: - ok check your univeristy's home page / student area for the academic appeals process details (it has to have one, but they could be hidden in taught student guides)! It sounds like a mitigating circumstance if you've had conflicting advice (only exceptions are professional bodies - GMC/DMC/RCN who govern graduates in specific fields and their rules / regulations tend to override general academic rules). feel free to pm me.

She might not be replying cos she's at his bedside and ecstatic that he's made it through the surgery and everything else has just been forgotten about... Sending positive vibes your way...

I think i am substituting fear with anger.....:o

My Dad is having an operation today to remove a lump and some of his bowels. Someone was supposed to keep me up to speed on what is happening and she isnt replying to my texts.

I know he is in a hospital in Ayr but I dont know which one, or which ward or anything really.

Is she not replying because he has not made it through the op? He has problems with his blood which means that he could literally bleed to death in an operation it things went wrong.

WHY ISNT SHE ANSWERING MY MESSAGES!!!!!!

Just checked with my Brothers who are scattered from London to Thailand and none of them have had any word either:confused:
But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.

surely even on that basis you should have a decent claim then?
the fact that the rules arent very clear.
    hope you get it sorted
They are clear, they just overlap in a way which leaves me absolutely stuck between a fail and a fail. :wall:

Awwww Gemmzie that sounds total pants to me......its in the Uni's best interest for you to pass the year too. There must be something someone can do. What does your tutor say?
Thanks Louise. They are looking into it and going to phone in the morning.

I applied for extenuating circumstances (as one of my module's work is overdue) but there doesn't seen to be a way around it. I think I might fall under those rules, as the degree has a professional body qualification attached :(

Hi Lou, As someone who works in a hospital all mobile phones must switched off as not to interfere with machinery etc. I'd agree with Cat and that she is at his bedside now and probably in an a bit of an emotional state - hope everything goes well for you and your pops darlin, Babbit x
